Sandy and Linn's Cave

We began by sticking newspaper on a shoebox. After that we put on some papier mache, we put that on so that we would be able to paint on top of the newspaper. After the papier mache had dried we painted it a grayish black color.

Then we began to think about how we wanted to display the inside of the cave. Did we want to draw the Cro Magnons on to the cave, or did we want to cut out pictures from a book. We decided on cutting pictures out from a book since neither of us can draw very well.

After we cut the pictures out we decided to make them a bit more interesting. We had cut out a picture of a cro magnon man who was carrying a stick, and decided to glue a real stick on.

Now we had to have some kind of cave painting on the wall. We had found a picture of some people painting and decide to cut it out and glue it to the wall. We went over the painting with red paint, since they did not have many colors. They did have black from using charcoal. We also decided to have another painting and Linn is drawing it.

We also decided to have some real life things in the cave. So we put in a hearth made out of stones for the circle and little twigs for the wood.

In a cave they usually had different work areas. We made a work area for cooking. We also had a big stone as the "table". There is even a lady working on it.

All in all I think this has been a great project and I really enjoyed working with Linn. I think we worked well together and produced something good.
