I Remember My Schools
by Erol

The first school I went to. It was called Panda School. It was only for pre-school. and kindergarteners. Panda School is in Turkey on the European side of Istanbul so I always had,to cross a bridge which went over the Bosphorus. The bridge was a suspension bridge and it is about as big as a soccer field.

You always had a very nice view from on top of the bridge. I could see my home and the Panda School. The Bosphorus looked blue and crystal clear. The Panda School was very small. It was like a small two storey house where pre-school did their own things and pre-k and kindergarten did their own games and painting together in one group since there were only two teachers. Everybody there spoke English and that was the advantage. There was one cleaning lady who spoke Turkish who also worked during the day but she could only speak Turkish so I spoke Turkish with her. Some of the activities we did were: painting, playing, baking and drawing.

I nearly went to a school called Zeki Children's school. The word Zeki in the school's means smart so it is Smart Children's School. The school was in Turkey. I had to take an IQ test first. I had to wait for about three hours in the waiting room. When I got in, the man tested my IQ for about half and hour. Then when he told us my IQ, (I had just finished kindergarten) and he said I had the IQ of a third or fourth grader. I wasn't really used to reading and writing in Turkish even though I could, It was still a bit hard. I wasn't too keen on the idea but then I heard that my father had been assigned a job in Germany.

J.F.K stands for: John Fitzgerald Kennedy. J.F.K School was an American-German school and both the American and German governments financed the teachers as well. It was the only English-speaking school in Berlin. You didn't get to go to the library until you were in second grade and you could only go when we had library time. You would get lost if you went outside the lower school boundaries because no lower school student ever went there. It was a huge school and l didn't like it. It had four gyms. Each one was as big as one of ours. But it wasn't much of a good education.

The International School of Amsterdam is the best school I've been to. I think it is very modern with beautiful architecture. It has two gyms and nice P.E. facilities. It has a very big playground. The playground has: basketball hoops, a soccer field and more. It is a big school with two libraries, three computer labs, after-school activities, is educational and has language lessons. I.S.A is a very academic school where you can learn a lot. What can I say? I.S.A is the best school to go to.
