I Remember The First Time
I Went Wakeboarding
by Matt

I remember the first time I went wakeboarding because it happened in a very weird way. I was sick of falling down when I tried to get up on water skis that had been using for a while so my mom suggested I try wakeboarding. I had a lesson from the manager of a watersports' shop where we we bought our boat from.

I had to be up at 6:00 AM. because we had to boat over to the marina where we would pick him up. He told me to put on the wakeboard as soon as we got out of the marina. When I jumped into the water it wasn't as cold as usual because I had a long wetsuit on instead of a springsuit. I was a little scared because I had never been on a wakeboard before and I wasn't sure how it would turn out.

It took me two tries to get up but when I was up it was a lot of fun. Then he told me to try to wakeboard one handed, it worked and by the end of the lesson I was amazed at how well I could wakeboard.

During the last time we went up to Lake Tahoe my mom rented me a wakeboard so I could have fun too. I had been able to cut through the wake and stay up for more than 5 minutes. Then my mom decided to return the wakeboard and ask if we could deduct the rental from the wakeboard price along with the 30% discount. The guy at the rental desk told us that we could so my mom and dad bought me a wakeboard as an early birthday present.

I was so exited and I couldn't wait to try it out. unfortunately the next day it was rainy and I couldn't go wakeboarding. The next day it was sunny and clear so I got to try it out. It cut through the wake like a knife through butter. Then I decided to try something that I had never tried to do before, jump the wake. I cut relay far out and then jumped about 6 inches high . After that I was able to land a jump and time. I made sure to thank my mom for buying me the wakeboard. Now it is sitting up in a closet until next summer.
