My Special Treasure

My special treasure is a picture of the greatest soccer player ever. His name is Pele. Pele used to play for Brazil but now he is retired. A fantastic feat about Pele is that he holds the World Record for the most goals for the World Cup and regular season. The thing that's special about my photograph is that it is actually signed by him. The really cool thing about my special treasure is the story behind it. You see my dad used to work for Umbro and Umbro sponsers Pele and Brazil. So my dad got to meet Pele a lot so they got to be friends.

Since my dad worked for Umbro and was a friend of Pele I got to go to the beach with Pele and his wife and daughter. I stayed at the same hotel as he did and I got to see him play tennis against my dad because I wasn't a very good tennis player back then.

After going to the beach with him he came to my house for dinner and I got to play Nintendo with him. Pele was a really pleasant person to be around and he acted like a normal person. I wish I could meet him again someday but I guess that won't happen today.

My special treasure is a medal that I won with a team made up of 5 boys. The competition was called OM . OM stands for Odyssey of the Mind.

We had to work for months on it and had to miss our recesses and lunch once a week . Our project was called " Double Trouble". We had to build a balsa wood bridge weighing a meer 30 grams but it had to hold as much weight as possible.

It was a happy day our structure was a sucess. Our team got a gold medal for first place. I am very proud of my achievement so I brought the medal to school to show to the rest of the class.

We traveled to Italy this summer for two weeks. We went to Southern Italy (not Sicily) which is Capri Island and Naples. Later on, we traveled north which is Tivoli.

It was dinner time so we drove to cafeteria to eat. After we ate our dinner, we went to shopping corner to buy some food to eat. Mom was looking at the tapes and so was I. I found a tape called "Spice Girls" tape and my mom bought it for me! When we left the cafeteria, I was eager to hear it because it's so popular here in Europe!
