The People of Egypt

The people of Egypt weren't very well-educated unless you had money. Some of the people would send their sons or daughters to Scribe school where they would learn how to read and write. It was not at all like school now; they would be punished if they didn't do what they were told. Not many people finished Scribe school, but if you did then it would mean that you would be almost as important as the Pharaohs and highly respected. Most of the people became farmers or worked for the Pharaoh's and the Gods that ruled all of Egypt. The Egyptian people were like slaves; they worked all day in the fields. Paintings of the people were found. They used to paint pictures of the people and the Pharaohs on the walls and they believed if they painted the happy times and good times they had then the paintings would come alive and relive that moment or those moments. Everyone had a job the men work in the fields smashing corn in to flour and collecting wheat. The women would bring drinks and food to the men and make dinner for them. The children would collect the grains that fell out of the basketball for their family. There was often fights about all of this and who got what. This evidence was shown on the walls that they painted on and also they would make little models showing this.

The people of Egypt lived in little mud huts that the bricks where made out of mud. There was room, and other places to sleep but no more rooms. There was flat roof, a place to cook. A lot of the people would have a few animals to keep and they would be outside in the garden. Most of the houses now are gone because after a while the mud bricks begin to crumble and fall down. After the bricks crumble they built more on top of them, and then they crumble and they build more and more. Until they live on big hills. The people of Egypt had really master the fact of building and making pots they where very good at it. They Egypt were the first to really make paper what they call papyrus.
