A tomb is a chamber that can be built below and under ground. This is because a tomb is just like a grave except it is a different religion of burying people. The tombs hold the remains of people just like graves. Tombs are one of the most oldest forms of burying a person. Tombs are believe to be a house of death, this is because, the people put things that belong to the person, or if they are important to the person. Things such as gold ornaments, animals molds, clothes, food, drink, etc.. tombs are a very important clue to the past. The prehistoric practice of burying the deceased under the house is probably led to one of the earliest forms of tombs. The chamber is covered in a mold of earth. Such molds are found in Europe,. India, and Ohio, and Mississippi valleys in the US. Another form of a tomb is a chamber cut out of a living rock, as for example in the Valley Of Kings in Egypt. In Egypt the tombs were made, then they would
mummify the body of a king or a Pharaoh. At first only Kings and Pharaoh's
where mummified then people that had enough money would be mummified.
After they had mummified the body they would then place a mask that is
made out of solid gold for the kings and The Pharaoh's. They would place
the mask over the body then they would put them inside of the chamber
or the tomb. They use to find a place in one of in one of the pyramids
then would put in all the stuff that belonged to the person, or what was
scared to the person, or that where important to the people of Egypt.
Because people would loot the tombs, and then they would make gold out
of the Many of the tombs now have been looted long ago so there isn't much of a clue to the past because from them being looted and everything taken out. One of the famous things that they found was Tutankhamen not one of the famous and greatest gods, but because of finding his tombs with all the stuff still in made him famous itself. Here is an excellent Web site which we used in our research on Egyptian religion and Egyptian gods. It is maintained by Shawn Knight and we commnicated by e-mail when writing our report. Thanks to Mr Knight for providing us with such excellent information on the Web. .URL: hhttp://www.internet-at-work.com/hos_mcgrane/egypt/egyptmenu1.html Materials Ms Hos-McGrane's Grade 6 Class Graphics by L.
