Introduction

Ancient Egypt occured about five thousand years ago. At that point in time in North East Africa the people of the Nile Valley became united under one ruler and soon the Kingdom of Ancient Egypt was created. Egyptian civilization had already existed for over two and a half thousand years when a Greek historian Heroditus described it around 450 BC. The history of the Ancient Egyptians is very long with many rulers, real monuments and the Egyptians themselves. Centuries later scholars divided the long ancient history into several periods. There is the Old Kingdom, the Middle Kingdom, and the New Kingdom.

The Egyptians had their legends and stories that we now share today. The writing that we read today is due to the work of people who decoded their ancient writings. All of thises ancient writings were decoded by the one and only ancient stone called the Rosetta Stone. This stone had both the Greek writing and the hierogylphic writing on it.

So come with us on our exploration of Ancient Egypt.
