Flat Yuko in Barcelona Spain.

Look at me! I'm flat. Completely flat, flat as a skinny paper!

I became flat 2 months ago because of my little brother. He was trying to put air into his bike but accidentally he pumped the air into me. When he realised it was me that he put air into, he quickly pulled the air out of me. But he pulled too much air out of me and I became flat like this.

I wasn't sad when I became flat--rather I was happy. I can go in the room with out opening the door. In fact my parents are happy too because now they don't need to pay so much for my food and the best reason is that that I can go all over the country with out paying so much.

So I decided to travel south to Barcelona in Spain to visit my friend Aiko who lives there . Now, my brother is really jealous. I promised him that I would buy some presents from Barcelona and I took off to Barcelona.

My mom put me into a large bag that I can fit in. She folded the bag in half and threw me into the postman's hand. This was the start of my lovely trip to visit Aiko in Barcelona.

Day 1

I woke up in the morning at 8;30 and Aiko took me to the dining hall to eat, pork ham, toasted bread and some frozen yogurts. When suddenly I looked at the weather and thought, wow!It is very warm here and there is palm tree here but not even 1 in Holland. I learned some Spanish words like !Hola! This means hello.I thought that Spanish is difficult and also interesting.

That afternoon I went to the department store in Barcelona and I saw a big fat pig leg. I touched it and it felt smooth but it smelled awful. Aiko's mother took a picture with us. Later, Aiko told me that this pig leg is called Jamon. For lunch we ate the ham of the pig's leg we took the picture of and paellia. Paellia is a food that has shrimps and rice in it. I ate so much that I almost got a stomachache. When I looked at my watch I realised that it was 2 o'clock already.

For dinner we ate a fish called a devil fish. This fish tasted good even though I don't like fish. This fish's' face was chopped off. I asked Aiko why and she told me that this fishes' face is very ugly that no one wants to see it. This meat is pumpy as a bag fulled with air. It felt strange because I never ate a fish like this. Suddenly I became sleepy. I looked up at the clock and it was already 10 o'clock. Aiko told me that in Spain people eat their lunch late and eat their dinner very late so the restaurants don't close until late at night. I thought that it is very different from Holland where people eat dinner much earlier. I'm so sleepy, I'm glad that I'm not living in Spain. And Zzzzz....

Day 2

I woke up 8:30 in the morning as I am supposed to do every week on Sundays. I realised that Aiko and all the rest were still sleeping. I woke Aiko up who was still half awake and half asleep. Aiko told me that in Spain people wake up about 12:00 in the morning on the weekends. I was bored so I went up to the T.V and watched a Spanish movie. I only understood !hola! I got confused so I switched it off. A while later, Aiko's mother woke up and made me some toast.

That afternoon we visited many places including:

  • park with tropical trees
  • statue of Gaudi
  • olive trees
  • Gate of dragon

Aiko lifted me suddenly. Then made me climb on the tree. There is a picture of it. Don't take pictures of me! I'm going to fall.

The next place I went was statue of Gaudi. Gaudi was a man who designed lots of interesting buildings such as Sagurada Famillia. The Sagurada Famillia is a big,I mean huge, church. We took pictures also with the background of the Goudi statue.

The next place we went was a place with lots of olive trese. There was lots of green olives. In the tree I saw a bird that had a red stomach. I got some piece off and ate it. Ugh! Disgusting.

The last place we went was next to the Dragon Gate made by Gaudi. We took pictures of that too. The dragon looked as though it was going to blow a fire onto me.

That evening I ate some fish again. Aiko told me that fish is very typical in Spain. Whereever we went we saw fish, fish and more fish. We smelled the fish and they felt quite fresh. They were smooth as well. By that time I had got quite used to being awake and I was able to stay awake for a late dinner. That night I went to bed very late.

Day 3

Today it was a very busy day for me. I woke up 7:15 A.M and walked two minutes to the bus station where I caught the bus at 8:10 A.M. On the bus I met lots of Aiko's friends and talked to them about Holland. Every one was interested in hearing about Holland so Italked about about it until the bus arrived at the American School where Aiko was a student. When I arrived at the school Aiko put me in her drawer until her lessons were finished and I DID NOT LIKE THAT.

In the afternoon it was Aiko's recess time. She took me out of the UNCOMFORTABLE drawer then took me to the playground. Every one was waiting for me to hear more about Holland. After every one was happy hearing about Holland they asked me if they could take pictures of me with them. Aiko took 4 pictures of me with her friends.

The first one I am with Aiko's Spanish teacher and 2 of her students. Next I took a picture with some of Aiko's classmates. The girls wearing a pink coat is Kylie who is American. The girl with glasses on is Tess who is also American. In the middle is Bhavna from India. The person holding me is Anjali who is also from India. Finallly the girl in the orange pants is Carolina from Sweden.

Aiko told me that in her school there are lots of Indian people which we don't have so much at our school in Amsterdam. The last picture is me and Kylie reading a book. "! Blah Blah Blah Blah!" What?I can't read this. I made lots of new friends.

Then Aiko showed me around the school. The school was as big as 6 houses (normal) attached together. I thought that it is not big as our school though I thought that it was a nice school.

After recess Aiko took me to the HORRIBLE place again. No she didn't. She asked me if I wanted to do math with them and I answered yes, of course. We were doing the same topics as we were doing at our school--adding and subtracting fractions. Aiko had a math test that day and I told her all the answers to the problems and she got full mark. The next was a SPELLING TEST which was my worst subject. But I did it for her. Sadly I made her get 8 out of 25 so she needed to take her test again.

That evening we had a farewell party in a restaurant. The food was delicious. We went to bed late because we played all the games she had. That night I thought about the sounds, smells and sights I had experienced on this trip.

Conclusion:

I came back safely. I told all the thing that happened on this trip. Then a special doctor came to me and made me back to a normal size like you are now. But the next day...my brother made me do the same thing all over again! Oh No! It was one of my most special trips not only because I was able to meet Aiko but also because I was able to go on a trip as Flat Yuko.
