My Mother's Story
Her Life When She Was A Child
by Saki I.

"Come on Kyoko! We will be late for your play school!" Called my father.

"Yes daddy. I'm coming right now" replied Kyoko. Kyoko ran down stairs to the kitchen to eat her breakfast. ''Daddy? Has mummy left to go to work already?'' asked Kyoko

"Yes Kyoko she has left to go to her work, and I have to too, after I took you and your sister Youko to school so you better hurry up Miss otherwise I'm going to be late for my work."

Youko is the older sister of Kyoko. She's in 2nd grade in a Japanese school called Fulinkankoe. She says it is a very nice school so when Kyoko becomes a1st grade she's going to go to the same school as Youko. "Daddy, hurry the bus might be there and might be leaving soon, and if it leaves we will have to walk to school and you'll be late for your job!'' said Kyoko feeling quite happy about it.

"Ok. Then, shall we run to your bus stop?'' Asked her father.

"Oh no. It will make me too tired that I would'nt be able to work at school and if I couldn't and the teacher asks why I'm not doing any work I'll tell her that you made me run so much that I got so tired that I can't move my hand or feet or use my head,'' said Kyoko.

When they got to the bus stop the bus was just about to leave. ''Bye daddy I'll be waiting for you at the house daddy,'' said Kyoko in a sad voice. ''Yes Kyoko I'll see you at home with your mother.'' Her father kissed her good bye and Kyoko went on the bus and sat at the back and by the window so she could wave her dad good by. When the bus started Kyoko waved goodbye to her dad, her dad waved at her too. Both of them were waving at eachother until both of them were out of sight from each other.

On the bus Kyoko was talking to her friend sitting next to her. Her name was Yosiko and Kyoko's best friend. She live's just down the road . '' Why doesn't your mother take you instead of your dad like everyone's mother does?'' Asked Yosiko to Kyoko.

"It's because she has to go to work very early in the morning so my dad has to take me.'' Kyoko did not realy like to talk about her father or mother because it made her feel like it was all her fault. The bus take's 20 minutes to get to the playschool because it's got alot of children to pick.

At the play school it was recess at this time and every child was playing. Kyoko of course was playing mums with Yosiko and Kiyomi. Kiyomi was pretending to be a posh lady and was pretending to be smoking. Yosiko and Kyoko was pritending to be 2 ladies with a child. Well the child, I think you know but it is a doll. Soon the bell rang and they were in to the class to do drawing.

In the class on the tables there where crayons and a piece of A4 paper in front of each desk. Everyone came dashing in and sat at their seats and just before they found the crayons and start drawing every where the teacher came in, and spoke to them straight away. ''Childrens now we would do drawing. You can draw anything you want. Animals, insects, birds anything you want okay?'' At once all the childrens said ''YES'!' in a very loud voice and started drawing straight away. Most of the girls were drawing animals and birds and the boys were drawing animals and insect. Kyoko was drawing her cat that died last year because of fever. It was a very sad event for her. Still they couldn't take her to the hospital because they did not have enough money and so they had to keep up with the poor cat meowing untill she eventually died. She was a tabby cat with a red coller with a little gold Japanese bell on it. Kyoko drew her lying on grass with pink, blue, yellow and white around her. The teacher said it was lovely and wished that she could frame it up on the wall of her room.

"Dingalingaling!'' At last the bell rang and it was time to go home. Every one dashed into the bus that was just waiting at the gate. After the children and the teachers came and when everyone was on, they went to take the children back to their homes. The bus does not go to their houses but goes to the nearest bus stop of their houses, and their mum, dad or sister or brother should be waiting there. At the 3rd bus stop Kyoko got off and ran to her older sister Youko was. Kyoko looked back to the bus and said ''good bye'' to the bus and started walking up the road to their house. Yuko pick's Kyoko up every day because her parents can not pick her up because of work.

When they got home they put their shoes off and went to their room and dropped their bags off and went to the table to find the sweets or food for their snack. On the table they found a glass plate with some little candies in it. Next to it was a piece of white paper, on it said ''I shall come back by 8 o'clock with daddy. For your snack there is sweets on the table. When you finished eating go and clean your room, clean the window and wash the bath and then do your homework.'' So they ate their snacks. When they finished eating Kyoko said, "Youko let's start cleaning.'' Of course Youko was going to say yes, but was she going to keep her promise that she was going to help me with the cleaning??? ''Kyoko I have to go to the shops to buy pencils and rubbers.'' Came the loud voice into Kyko's ears '' So could you do all the ceaning up? I'm sure you can.'' Kyoko of course couldn't say no, otherwise what could happen to her? Get a kick in the stomach, get a slap right across her face. Before she could think of anything else, Youko said ''bye bye'' and shut the door.

Then Kyoko said " Welll I guess I haven't got any choice."
