It was just as the book had said,
Thought Jim, Lying in bed one Christmas morning.
The stockings were hung, and the presents under the tree,
Outside was all the Christmas decorations
Were in the yard in the snow.
And of course there will be wonderful presents
All for me!
But now there wasn't only the mouse stirring
But a five year old boy calling to his sisters
"Wake up Nicky, Wake up Emma!
It's Christmas Day,
There will be sweets in our stockings,
And presents under the tree!"
"Oh, do go away Jim, It's seven in the morning!"
"Who cares about the time,
besides the sooner we open the presents,
The sooner you know if you got the dolls you want!"
Jim could hear whispers under the door,
"He does have a point, Emma, Lets go see."
Running down the hall,
And stomping down the stairs,
"Do be quiet" Moaned their Mummy
Racing as fast as they can to get to the family room,
Where all the sweeties, and pressies stand.
" I'm opening my present first!"
" But Emma, you said I could open mine first last night!"
Jim was complaining.
" Okay I' ll settle this argument,
And I'll open mine first!"
Nicky exclaimed proudly.
" But that's not fair.!"
" Oh, OKAY we can all open ours at the same time.
"Ready, ? one, two, three.
OPEN!"
"I got the exacted doll I wanted,
You know the one with the blond curly hair,
And the blue dress, and blue bonnet."
Exclaimed Emma happily
" And I got the China Doll with the Angel wings!
I'm going to call her Elizabeth!"
Nicky said rejoicing
" What did you get Jim? "
" I got a piece of coal!"
He said inbetween sobs,
"I didn't get what I wanted, I didn't get the the
Feaarai toy car in the shop window,
No I got a piece of coal!"
By now Jim was in tears
"Good morning children."
It was Mummy,
" Did you get what you wanted?"
There was two yes's,
And one no,
"I got a piece of coal!"
" Ha Ha,
Jim got a piece of coal and we'ee didn't!"
The two girls were chanting whole
running around the room!
" That'll be enough now girls."
Said Mummy.
" Jim, maybe you didn't get what you wanted
because you were naughty."
" I'm sorry Mummy,"
Jim said, in a meaningful tone of voice
" I really am! I promise I won't be bad again,
really I won't!"
" Okay,"
Mummy said reaching into her robe pocket
and bringing out a present with a card that said,
'To My Son Jim'
'From Mummy'
"Merry Christmas Jim,"
Mummy said handing the present to me.
" Oh, thank you Mummy, I promise I'll never be bad again!"
And know it is really like the book,
all the children got their presents,
and Jim got his toy Ferrai
