The most of the four ancient games were held by the Greeks. The Olympic Games were always celebrated in the summer every four years, or Olympiad, at Olympia. The god Zeus which was the first Olympiad, was dated in 776 BC, but the games had already started before that.

In 472 BC, the games lasted five days with a lot of events, the order of the events were not known. But the first day of the festival was devoted. The second day had began with foot races for which the egg-shaped area enclosed. On some of the days, they had different games such as wrestling, boxing, and pancratium, and it was a combination of two games and they had horse racing, sprinting, long jump, javelin, hurling, discus throwing.

The ancient Olympian Games lasted only until the 5th and 4th centuries BC. They were stopped in 393 AD by the Emperor called Theodosius I..

Daily Life

Homes In the Greek houses were built only with bricks and some mud. In the towns they were small but people built larger houses in the country. Most of the houses didn't have so many furniture in them.

Men and Women The Greek men often worked in farming, trade or army. In Athens, Greek women could not buy their own home, but the men had to do it. The little girls weren't allowed to go out of there house very often.

The girls were told by their father whom they had to marry, when they were married, the woman had to obey their husbands, and to stay at home and work. It was very different for men, they visited each other very often to eat and to drink.
