Independence Day celebrates the birthday of the United States of America which was founded July 4th 1776 with the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Holiday Symbols : The Liberty Bell

The Liberty Bell was made to signal the independence of the United States of America. When the independence came the Liberty ding-donged and it cracked. The bell is in Philadelphia. Lots of people come to see it. Of course they don't ring it now.

Holiday Symbols : Fireworks

Americans shoot fireworks off every 4th of July because not only is it pretty but it symbolizes the Revolutionary War which started in 1776 and the people who fought in it. People also light firecrackers. The fireworks and the firecrackers also represent the fighting. The fireworks are of course not always red, white and blue. They are also purple and green. Personally my favorite fireworks are the ones that explode and then the pieces that came from the firework explodes.

On July 8, 1776, the Liberty Bell rang out from the tower of Independence Hall in Philadelphia calling citizens to hear the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence.
