    Religion

    The common man: Like most theocreatic societies the Mayan society was a pyramid with the common man at the bottom. They were the farmers, They built the temples and terraced the land. They cut the trees and transported the limestone blocks for the buildings. They carved the glyphs and made the Mayan sculptures.

    The Ball Game The Maya played a ballgame the aim of which was NOT to let the hard rubber ball touch the ground. Players were not allowed to touch the ball with their hands or feet. They believed if they played the game right then the gods would be happy. If the gods were happy, then it would rain and the crops would grow.

    Death When someone died in the family the dead body was buried under the floor of the house. There was usually more than one body in the "family graveyard". Sometimes there were tomb-like rooms found in the grave The Maya believed that when they died they went to the underworld.
