    Science and Technology

    Writing THe Mayas had a writing system which they used to tell stories such as their creation stories and other tales. They used a picture system like the Egyptians called hierglyphs. Each hieroglyph meant a different concept. They caved many hierglyps into stone. The common people knew what some of the symbols meant whereas the priests and nobles could read almost all the hierglyphs. (Ayano got this from a book on the Maya and we put it into our own words.)

    Mayan Mathematics The Mayan math system was a base twenty system. They used dots and bars to represent their numbers. They also had positional value and the concept of zero. You can see how the Mayas represented their numbers below. (Here is a site with more information on Maya numbers.)
