Indonesia

The capital city of Indonesia is Jakarta. Indonesia is about 576,000 square miles with a population of 179 million. There are over 17,000 islands stretching over 3,000 miles. In Indonesia the people speak Bahasa Indonesian, English and Dutch. Their money is called "rupiah".

Indonesia has a tropical climate. It has monsoon seasons. While travelling you will need light weight clothes. Malaria exists and pills should be taken to prevent the disease from infecting you. Antoher natural hazard is volcanoes.

There are many different foods in Indonesia such as rice, seasoned meats, fish, fruits and vegetables.

Indonesia is a presidential republic. A valid passport and visa are required to enter the country. Our travels took us through the city of Paduang on the island of Sumatra and also the very small island of P. Pagai Utara.
