Russia
After many hours of viewing the bare landscape of Siberia from the comfort of of our coach on the Trans-Siberian train, Nicky and I arrived at Irkutsk on Lake Baikal. The lake contains one fifth of the world's supply of fresh water. After we became acquainted with the indiginous people and the local mosquitoes we went river rafting on a class 5 river with feeds into Lake Baikal. Then we had the terrifying experience of visiting a deserted Gulag where political enemies had been kept. We then packed our gear for the three long flights to Hong Kong.
